Stage 5, HE LIVES!

The oil wash has been applied, I'll get the photos of that up soon. Then i left the oils where the shadows are, lifted everything else. Its lookin OK now. SHWEW!

Stage 4

Here i've softened the highlights, giving the form more volume. Things are starting to look up.

Stage 3

Here i've lifted the highlights out of the painting. I just took a wet brush and painted the shapes i wanted, then hit it with a paper towel and sucked up the wet watercolor. The Acrylic is coming through in those areas. Is it dead yet? I'm still going to finish this. I'll reserve judgment until then. I do think this piece would have benefited from some reference material and more thought, but in a class demo, i just don't have the time. Firing on instinct.

Stage 2

I've added the watercolor stage, the mid tones. Next I'll lift the highlights.

The prelude to the act...

I think i started to hit some decent line weights, in terms of building depth into the compositions. Things are moving along. Violence is around the corner.

Stage 2, Demon

Here i've added the light tones of the local color. The yellow is quite "icey", which isn't something i wanted, but I'll work with it.

The Learning Curve

Learning a lot as i go. Sometimes i feel like a step forward is two steps back. Strikes and gutters, ya know?
