Heroes Con...

I'll be attending Heroes Con this weekend. I'll be in Artists Alley at table AA-642. I'll be sitting next to my old friend Sean Murphy. So look for the long ass Murphy line, and find me buried behind it

I'll be doing sketches, selling books and my sketchbook, and talking to anyone who stops by.

I'll have a sketch list, so if you'd like one, stop by early.

$30 sketch card
$50 5" X 7" sketch

All inked.

See ya there!

Almost done with Decoy posts...

Then WHAT?!?!?!?! :)
Here's two more pages of the climatic battle. I was really trying to stick to simple shapes in the drawing while using diagonals to create movement and a visually dynamic sequence. Getting there.

Decoy, Chapter 3, inks...

Here's the first three pages of chapter three, inked. This is the chapter where i started make some real progress in my art. I started to rely on simple shapes in the drawing, and let the complexity (details, textures, and rendering) occur in the inks while staying true to the simple shapes of the pencils.

He won't let me go!

I haven't said much about the book i've been working on for Marvel. I have said that I am leaving Deadpool for the foreseeable future. Life once again proves to be unpredictable. The book i was working on has been put on hiatus. The book i'll now be working on involves The Merc with a Mouth. I can't say much more than that, aside from this. I have read the script, and it's INSANE. This one is going to be WILD. I can't wait for everyone to read this book.
Also, because of this book and its tight deadline, i won't be attending Wonder Con.

Jason Arron is awesome, in case you didn't know...

Hopefully you all are aware of the work of Jason Aaron. If not, i believe him to be one of the best comic writers putting out work today. I mean that, one of the best, if not THE best. Go read Scalped, or Punisher Max. You'll see.
He also wrties a very informative colum for CBR,entitled "Where the hell am I." It's a great column full of helpful ideas, insight, and practical information for the aspiring comic creator and professional, alike.
This week, the focus is on works spaces. Luckily, i was included. Thanks for that, Jason.

Robot 6, hear me speak!

Tim, at Robot 6, was extremely kind to me and let me spew off at the keyboard.

Also, this means, chapter two should be up at Marvel.com soon AND the pages for that chapter will be on sale at Cadence.

Thats all, i'm out. Working on my next project. This one will be career defining...I Hope

The Decoy

My new Marvel project comes out this week. It’s a 3-chapter event that will be initially released as a Marvel.comic. The story is 22 pages in length, each chapter being around 7 or 8 pages. Marvel will release each chapter throughout January, (on a Wed.) starting this week, Jan. 12th. The Decoy is a team up book, with Deadpool and Wolverine.
I know that the story will eventually see print, I just don’t know when, yet. That info will be shared when I have it.
I am very excited about this project for a few reasons…
1) It’s a web comic (initially.) Digital publishing is increasingly looked at as the frontier for print media, and the ipad is the major vehicle for this movement. I like working on something progressive and forward thinking. Don’t get me wrong, I LOVE print, but we need to find deeper avenues for future readers.
2) I got to draw Wolverine. That’s just awesome; I don’t think I need to explain why…do it?
3) This book marks the end of my introduction to working for Marvel comics. I came into Marvel drawing Deadpool. For the past few years, I’ve worked exclusively yon Deadpool projects as I developed my style and gained fans. As I move forward, I am moving away from Deadpool, for the near future at least. Deadpool was a GREAT character to come in on. The character allowed me to work towards my strengths as an artist while further developing my style. Now, it’s time to move on. As much as I love Deadpool, I don’t want to get pigeonholed or typecast. So, I’m excited to move forward with different characters, where I can continue to develop my style and explore new artistic challenges.

The original art for this story, and ALL of my other books can be found at Cadence Comic Art.

Stop by, not just for my art, but all the great artists represented there.

My next project is a mini series, which I am VERY excited about. I’ll talk about it more when I can. Until then, stay tuned and keep and eye on my posts. The Mini series is tentatively scheduled for a Halloween release. Which is great, thematically, it’s a perfect time to release this book. Thanks for the continued support everyone out there in interland.
