2010, a great year, 2011 looking even better!

This was an AMAZING year for me. I seem to be gaining some real traction in comics. My family is doing great, and all of my friends seem to be enjoying life. I just wanted to thank EVERYONE who has helped, supported, and/ or inspired me this past year. I wouldn’t have any books on the shelf, or sites with traffic without an audience. Thank you all!
2011 is already aiming to be a more magnificent year, even more so than 2010. I have a really exciting project I’m starting to work on. Look for it around Halloween. My first web comic, for Marvel.com, will be out in a few weeks. Also, I’m in talks with some of my favorite hip-hop artist about collaborating with them on some future projects. There’s alos some stuff in the works, nothing nailed down, but exciting none the less. That’s just what I know of now, before the year has even begun.
Raise you glasses tonight, to a special upcoming year! The toxicology forecast for my evening is looking like the periodic chart that your science teacher never showed you.
Thanks and CHEERS!
See ya in 2011.

Goodbye Deadpool, for now...

So, I'm done with my latest Deadpool book. A team up with Wolverine. Great fun to draw. So, i am on to my next job, a mini series. No, it's not Deadpool. This mini series should take almost a year to do, and what's after that? Only time will tell. So this is my farewell to DP.
You may recognize this drawing. It was the try out i did for my first marvel job, Deadpool: Games of Death. The drawing has been sitting, waiting for me to ink it for some time now. I thought it would be neat to ink it now, ater all the growth of the past two years has happened. Plus it's a nice bookend to opening act of my comics career, lets hope.

Atlanta Comic Con

I was at the Atlanta show this past weekend. The show was slow, but still, i got to catch up with a bunch of cartoonists i know. I didn't do many sketches, but i did a couple.

Wizard World Atlanta

I'll be at Wizard World Atlanta this weekend. Look for me in artists alley and for my workshop on Sunday at 11!

Another brush sketch. This time of Pacewon, a favorite rapper of mine. One of many.
I think this suffers from not enough blocky black shapes. Too much grey. Live and learn.
if you like hip hop, you NEED to check him out. here's a link to his latest video

He's an underground artist, give him your support by buying his music, not downloading it.

Confidence Builder...

This was done from a photo of David Carradine. I'm doing a bunch of these as warm ups. The goal is to build my confidence, forcing myself to draw more with ink, pencil less. The pencils drawing under this was done in 15 seconds, max. Just a fat stick figure. With luck and practice, i'll be bringing more and more of this into my printed work. All in all these are around a 15 minute drawing.
Yeah, the likeness is shite, but that wasn't really the point.

Puck You!

Tired of the Puck Puns???

What The Puck?!

Messin' around with Puck. I love this little dude! It'd be real fun to get to draw a book with him and Wolverine. Two short mutant hair-balls. The Simian Super Duo!

I lined up some VERY excisintg gigs, which you'll see info on as soon as i can say or show something. Here's a little skecth i did at the show, for my art reps wife at Cadence Comic Art. It was a Disney themed sketchbook, and ever since i saw "Bolt", i couldn't get this lil bugger outta my head. So i put him on paper.

I'm still here...

Hello all,
I haven't given up on comics or fallen out of work. Quite the opposite! I've got three projects I'm currently working on at Marvel. None of which i can really talk about, or show anything for. Which sucks, but as soon as i can show something, i will! I am hoping to be doing more sketching and practicing, so look for some stuff soon. Maybe i need to do something like Murphy's Wolverine ABC's. Maybe thats too structured? I don't know, but i'll figure something out and start posting soon. Thanks for your patience!
In the meantime did you know about the other areas i maintain a web presence at?

Also, don't forget about my art rep, Cadence Comic Art.

I will be attending New York Comic Con, and i'll be posting journal about that soon.

Moleskine

I like to carry a Moleskine sketchbook wherever i go and draw. Most of the time, this is done while i travel. I like to use a hi tec c and a Pitt brush pen exclusively. Here are some of those travel drawings, all my flaws shining for you to see. :)

Some more pages...

From DPTU 892... John Rauch on colors, of course.

Hype Machine, Day 1! Supercon on the Horizon...

With my book dropping next week, it's time to start hyping that thang! Deadpool Team Up 892, Written by David Lapham, Drawn by me, painted by John Rauch. I say painted because he goes far beyond what a colorist typically does.
Also, i take off on Thursday for SuperCon in Florida, which i am looking forward to in a BUG way! If you're in the Miami area, stop by!
With only a few days to spare before i leave, let the parade of images start!

Journal Comic...

Here's my addition to the Journal Comic of Kevin Burkhlater. I had a BLAST doing this. It was nice to let the cartoony lose, channeling some Bill Watterson. This whole strip was done with a Schaarffe 3000 series, size 2 brush. I hadn't used a shcaarffe in a while. Good brush with a real sharp point. I like a little more belly than this brush offers, BUT i could (and maybe will) do some more pages with it...
I'm off to the beach for a week. When i get back, more posts to come!
Also, i'll be at Supercon in two weeks. If you're in the area, come on by artists alley and shout at me!

Hypin it...

Starting to build the hype for my next issue, Deadpool Team Up 892. Written by David Lapham, Drawn by me, colors by John Rauch. Out on June 23rd!

KB Journal comic...

Kevin Burkhalter runs a DAILY journal comic, becuase he's insane. He's also awesome and asked me to do one. Here's my initial designs for him and his buddy Jarret Williams, another awesome cartoonist (Look for Super Pro K.O. from Oni this summer!)
I tried to stay on model with Kev's characters and still add a touch of me. It's nice to get to do something this cartoony. More to come...

Superbad plus Deadpool =

Another Design for the upcoming DPTU. I based his human form off of Jonah Hill, cause i gots mad love for Jonah Hill and i hear he's a Deadpool fan!
Ultimatley, we decided the demon form needed to be uglier and more grotesque. That design will go up next.
