More Blood, More Blood

Here are some more inks. I've been spending a lot of time at other blogs, Eric Canete and Chris Brunner mainly. I am humbled to say the least. I just feel like such an amateur in the shadow of these giants.

Mo Marvel! Mo Marvel!

It would seem that i am not teaching, raising a family, and woking on my OGN, BloodRed, with all of thses Marvel sketches...but I am doing all of the above! I'll post some BloodRed inks tomorrow. These cards are pretty challenging and fun.

Trying to keep to my promise...

More observational drawing. Some class demos. Gesture drawings in Hi Tec C!

Marvel Sketch Cards round 1

If you are familiar with this line of cards, then you know how insane some of the cards were. Eric Canete, Kelsey Shannon, Chris Brunner, Andrew Robinson, Travis Charest, and David Williams (to name a few) laid down a whole new playing field. I was lucky enough to get in on round 2. My nerves are getting the best of me. Here's the pencils for my first two. Keep in mind, these are tiny drawings, so go easy on me!

Running through quicksand...

Another page inked. Slow and steady. Things seem to be slowly coming together for my inks. I'm starting to cheive that depth i want. Panel 3 starts to hit what I'm going for. By the end of the book, i should be flying hi on my inks. Also, this scene with no blacks is forcing me to reveal my vulnerability ;)

The Clickster!

I used to always encourage my students to NEVER use those little clicky mechanical pencils. They always seemed way to detail specific for the practice of understanding general shapes and mass. Eventually i banned them all together. Well, as life goes, live and learn. I picked one up today and had a blast sketching this Demon. It's small, and was fun to do. I still stand by the idea that this pencils has little to no use in the life drawing room, but for other stuff...:)
Also, this is one of my ALL TIME FAVORITE DC characters. Maybe, maybe, one day i'll get to play with him. Only time will tell.

It's raining Black Gold!!!!

I started inking scene 2 here. A bit of a bumpy start. I learned so much penciling that last scene, that by the end of it, i was making MANY better choices. Going back to ink the early pages is a little tough, because my blade wasn't as sharp. Oh well, the red tone will save me on this page. I'm looking forward to posting VERY frequently!

Franky Boy...

Recently, i have felt like i have been using to many formulas. So i need to start doing more observational drawings. Here is the first of many studies to come. It's from a picture of Frank Miller on the Sin City set. Back tot the drawing table!
